Java Back-End Developer (Consultant)

Talent Quanta is seeking an experienced Java Back-End Developer to support a long-term engagement in Belgium. The consultant will be integrated into the development team and work closely with a major client’s IT organisation on site, contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade back-end solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop back-end applications using modern Java technologies
• Integrate front-end components with server-side logic
• Design and implement APIs and microservices
• Develop and manage databases and data storage solutions
• Ensure security, data protection, and compliance across applications
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient back-end code
• Analyse and troubleshoot issues, including performance and reliability
• Perform testing, debugging, and bug fixing
• Produce and maintain technical documentation
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and client stakeholders

Required Expertise

• University degree in IT or equivalent professional experience
• 15+ years of professional IT experience
• 5+ years’ experience with:
  • Java (17+)
  • Spring Boot (WebFlux)
  • Hibernate
• 1+ year experience with Vert.x and Kotlin
• 2+ years’ experience in:
  • Architecture & Integration (Microservices, API-driven development, AS4)
  • Databases (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Virtuoso Triple Store, OpenSearch)
  • Containerisation & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Security (OpenID Connect, OAuth2, TLS, Keycloak)
• 1+ year experience in:
  • Security testing & dependency management (SAST, DAST, Fortify, SonarQube, Sonatype, Dependency-Track, Maven)
• 3+ years’ experience with collaboration and productivity tools (JIRA, Confluence, Office 365, SharePoint)
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written)

Engagement Details

• Long-term consultancy assignment
• On-site presence in Belgium required
