Ingestion IT Systems – Database Administrator Expert (Consultant)

Talent Quanta is looking for an experienced Database Administrator Expert to support a strategic cloud and database migration programme in Luxembourg. The consultant will be embedded within the development team and work closely with a major client’s IT organisation on site, contributing critical expertise to a high-visibility transformation initiative.

This role is well suited to a hands-on database professional with strong cloud migration experience and a consulting mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of the Cellar store from AWS Cloud to a new cloud provider
• Execute the migration from Oracle (RDS) to PostgreSQL, including schemas, data, configurations, and stored procedures
• Plan and deliver the removal of Oracle Spatial, ensuring service continuity
• Ensure data integrity, security, performance, and availability throughout the migration lifecycle
• Provide expert-level support for database-related technical issues
• Design, implement, and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
• Monitor, analyse, and optimise database performance for scalability and reliability
• Work closely with development teams and the data migration lead to align database design with application needs
• Produce and maintain system specifications and technical documentation

Required Expertise

• University degree in IT or equivalent professional experience
• 7+ years of professional experience in IT systems and database administration
• 5+ years’ experience with enterprise databases, including:
  • Oracle, Oracle Spatial, RDS, PostgreSQL
• 3+ years’ experience in:
  • SQL querying and database administration
  • Database design, modelling, monitoring, and performance tuning
  • ETL processes, scripting, automation, and database security
  • Backup and recovery strategies
• 3+ years’ experience with RDS and PostgreSQL
• 3+ years’ experience in cloud database migration, including data transfer and synchronisation
• 3+ years’ experience producing system specifications and technical documentation
• 2+ years’ experience in cloud management
• 2+ years’ experience with Python
• 1+ year experience with:
  • Linux systems (shell scripting, basic administration)
  • Networking concepts (TCP/IP, load balancers, proxy servers)
  • Containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Oracle Spatial and AWS Cloud services
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
