Application Engineer/Administrator

Talent Quanta is seeking an Application Engineer/Administrator fluent in English, to offer his/her Remote services as an expert for a position based in The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands. The consultant would need to be in The Hague the first week of her/his employment (for on-boarding and meeting the team). The client may request regular or ad hoc presence on its premises up to maximum 6 working days per quarter potentially split in maximum two visits per quarter. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Application installation, configuration and administration in production and non-production environments;

• Application monitoring, performance tuning and continuous improvement of the efficiency and quality of service;

• Applications support and maintenance activities such as incident, change, release and problem resolution;

• Writing and validating application procedures manuals, including troubleshooting guides, backup and restore plans;

• Automating administrative procedures for recurring system administration activities and provide installation and technical support documentation where required;

• Contributing to the structuring, maintenance and development of the technical knowledgebase supporting the ICT Operations activities;

• Reporting on application availability, performance, capacity and overall usage where required.

Required Expertise

• Master degree in IT combined with minimum 9 years relevant relevant working experience;

• Minimum of 6 years of IT professional in mid/large IT infrastructure environments, including deployment, support and maintenance of applications;

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an IT professional in the area of application administration;

• Minimum of 5 years of experience working with enterprise Microsoft or Linux server solutions;

• Minimum 2 years of experience with micro-services, container orchestration and container-based stacks such as Docker or Kubernetes;

• Minimum 2 years of experience with administering and supporting Elasticsearch;

• Minimum 2 years of experience with working with Public or Hybrid Cloud services and solutions (AZURE or AWS);

• Good knowledge of micro-services, container orchestration and container-based stacks using Kubernetes, Helm charts, Docker and Rancher;

• Good knowledge of configuration management concepts and technologies (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, Chocolatey);

• Good knowledge of shell and/or PowerShell scripting;

• Good knowledge of ITIL, including the incident, change and release management processes;

• Excellent command of the English language.
